Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) or Hip dysplasia is a condition that is seen in infants and young children because of developmental problems in the hip joint.
Flat feet are also commonly referred to as fallen arches and occur when the feet roll in or over-pronation during standing or walking.
Club foot is a congenital deformity, i.e. a condition present at birth, where one or both feet abnormally point inward and downward.
Children who are still growing have different anatomy, they are not ‘mini adults’ and therefore their fractures need special consideration and treatment.
The treatment for DDH depends on both the age of the child and the severity of the condition.
If your child does not exhibit any symptoms, your doctor may monitor your child’s condition as he/she grows to assess for any changes.
Treating club foot involves explaining the condition to the parents and then performing physiotherapy for the baby.
The majority of children’s fractures can be treated without open surgery.
